Vard road for Mads
JAMES MADDISON has revealed one of the big reasons that swung his £24million switch to Leicester City – Jamie Vardy.
Midfielder Maddison has graduated to the England side in the two years since he made his big money move from Norwich.
And the 24-year-old has been one of the main reasons evergreen Vardy has continued to top the goalscoring charts.
The pair (right) will try to topple Leeds at Elland Road tomorrow with away-day specialist Vardy the big danger for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Amazingly, all seven of Vardy’s goals this season have been scored away from home. That includes one in the Foxes’ 2-1 Europa League win at AEK Athens in midweek – with an assist by Maddison.
And Maddison admits the prospect of linking up with the revered predator helped him make his big decision.
He said: “I know w the type of player I am and d I’ve watched Jamie in the
Premier League for a number of years. I knew me and him would complement each other and I really hoped we’d build a relationship on and off the pitch.”
Maddison added: ”We’re very good friends off the pitch and it shows on the pitch because we’re on the same wavelength. In training weve we’ve worked ha hard on stuff.
“As a an attacking midfield player what w you want from your st striker is a willing runner, s someone who can score goals and someone wh who listens to what yo you want as well.
“He ticks all three boxes.’
