BARNSLEY skipper Alex Mowatt did it again as he cracked home a stunning wonder goal for the second time in a week.
And his early strike earned new boss Valerien Ismael his second win in his first five days in charge at Oakwell.
Mowatt’s 25-yard drive that came out of nowhere not only beat keeper Ben Foster hands down but it also stunned highflying Watford as they were condemned to only their second defeat of the season.
Ismael said: “I’m so proud of the boys who have given me the perfect start to my job with two consecutive wins.
And he said of Mowatt: “Alex is our captain and he understood immediately what I wanted from him and the team – to press hard and high, to win the ball and to shoot from distance. It was a great goal and he had a big influence on the game. He led us well out there.”
Watford may have a powerpacked team of international talent, hoping to bounce straight back to the Premier League but Barnsley upped their game and, though they were under pressure for long spells, they dealt with it all.
