KEITH CURLE called Northampton’s victory over Wigan an important one after they edged a five-goal thriller at the DW Stadium.

The visitors were two goals up inside 21 minutes through Ryan Watson and Sam Hoskins.

Joe Garner pulled one back from the penalty spot, before Caleb Chukwuemeka restored Northampton’s two-goal advantage.

After Tom James headed in Wigan’s second goal, Kyle Joseph almost equalised, only to hit a post late on.

“It’s an important win for us,” said the Cobblers boss.
