MATT TAYLOR hailed Exeter’s character after a narrow win over 10-man Carlisle.

Former Cumbrians defender Tom Parkes scored the only goal three minutes into the second half, before Gime Toure was sent off for a headbutt on Jake Taylor.

“It was an industrial display,” said Grecians boss Taylor. “We defended our box outstandingly well and got first to a lot of those balls which were coming into dangerous areas.”

Carlisle manager Chris Beech said: “We have played really well in the first half and should have scored a few goals.”
