In league of its own for absurdity

-

The Premier League has abandoned its scheme of charging £14.95 for matches on pay-per-view during the second lockdown.

Most football supporters refused to pay the charges anyway, often donating money to a food bank instead. This seems to have come as a huge surprise to the Premier League.

You can see why. Who could predict that when most people are insecure about money and work, they would hesitate to pay extra money on top of the money they already pay to see sport that would go to clubs owned by Russian oligarchs and oil companies?

Economics is so complicated.
