Spiral out of control

- BY KAREN ROCKETT

Britain’s pampered pooches may soon be sporting a very different look – known in the dog grooming world as “the noodle”. The spiral fur-do, which originated in Asia, has been brought to our shores by enterprising groomer Helen Kirby.

The 29-year-old, who prides herself on creating new “hair styles for dogs” travelled to Malaysia to learn the Asian Fusion technique for herself.

She tested the look out on Doris the labradoodle – and her owners, Scott Learmouth and Jon Clark, were thrilled with the result. Helen, who works at trendy Bone Idol in Brighton, said: “I first saw the Asian Fusion style on Instagram and loved how technical and beautiful it was while being fun and playful too.

“I feel that there is more interest recently in styling and people wanting to make their dog’s groom more personalised.”

Helen is now teaching other groomers how to create the look. See boneidol.co.uk/pages/boneidol-training-academy.
