Test that could save your life
This is me after my first-ever mammogram.
As I’m 50, I now get invited, free of charge, for the NHS examination.
I’ve shared this photo to encourage more women from South East Asian backgrounds to take up breast screening – evidence shows they are the LEAST likely to attend.
Please put your health first. Research has shown there is a 25 per cent reduction in deaths from breast cancer among women who are screened regularly.
Mammograms are carried out by female-only staff, and there is nothing to be embarrassed or scared about.
My experience could not have been better. I felt safe, informed and well cared for.
Please don’t miss your appointment during lockdown.
We are very lucky to have free screening (@nhsengland, #breastscreening) – so please don’t waste it.
