Not Under the radar anymore

- NEIl MOXlEY

HE ARRIVED at Leicester City Under the radar – but Brendan Rodgers thinks the secret is now out.

The close-season loan signing of Turkish international Cengiz Under from Roma could be the final piece in the Foxes’ attacking jigsaw.

And it could help improve Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy’s goal output into the bargain.

Already the 23-year-old playmaker (above) has served up the winner on a plate for the former England international at the Emirates.

And then an inch-perfect pass helped Youri Tielemans complete a rout at Elland Road last week.

Rodgers thinks that once his fitness improves that he will be a vital part of Leicester’s armoury.

He said: “I was looking for a left-sided player who was dynamic, that could run without the ball but who had football in him and this is what the recruitment team came up with.

“He was a player we were aware of when he was at Roma and with the Turkish national team. “What you see is that he needs to get fitter. That’s why he’s getting into the games on 60 minutes.

“But as the season goes on, he will get fitter and adapt to how we want to play.

“Because it’s a different intensity what we want him to do here which is run, non-stop.

“And he might be unheralded at the moment. That’s nice when you can just get on with your job.”
