THIS IS OUR SEASON FOR TITLE GLORY

Kane says Spurs have ‘got enough to win it’

HARRY KANE knows Tottenham have a massive chance to win what is shaping up to be a wide open title race this season.

Spurs are riding high, just two points off the top of the Premier League table.

And with Jurgen Klopp’s defending champions Liverpool and fellow favourites Manchester City already dropping points, there is a sense this campaign could well go any way.

The last time that happened was the 2015-16 season when Leicester triumphed, and there has been a sense of opportunity missed about that campaign at Tottenham ever since.

Kane said: “When you look at the ability of our squad, you would definitely say we’ve got enough to win a title.

“But I’d also say we’ve been close over the last four or five years, but just haven’t quite got over the line.

“So it’s not as easy as just having a good squad and winning a few games to challenge for title. This is a season where I don’t think one team’s going to run away with it like Liverpool did last year.

“So there are going to be opportunities for other teams to put good runs together and get right up the table.

“We’ve got to make sure we don’t get carried away, either.

“We know we’ve been playing well, we’ve been winning games.

“The last two games have been good for confidence, just to grind out results and to get good, ugly wins under our belt.

“There are going ng to be times when we’re e 1-0 up with 10 minutes to go or

2-1 up and we need d to see the game out, t, which we didn’t do o early on in the e season.

“So that’s been n pleasing, but look, , there’s a long way to o go – we have to see ee where we are come ome February or March rch and go from there.” Kane admits the near miss in 2015-16 and the one in 2019, which saw Tottenham beaten in the Champions League final by Liverpool, are massive drivers.

He added: “Every time you lose a big game or lose a final or a title race, you always wish you could have it back and that feeling back, do a little bit more and give every ounce you have.

“Especially for myself, when I haven’t won a trophy yet in my professional career – it gives you that motiva motivation to do even more.

“Look, it it’s not just a oneman team. team

“There a are a lot of us in this squa squad who have been her here now for a period of time and haven’t w won anything, so w we’re always as h hungry as ever.

“We all know t that it takes an a awful lot to get o over the line and we ju just need to find a way of doing it.” Boss

Jose Mourinho recruited two men during the transfer window who certainly know what it takes to win the biggest prizes in Gareth Bale ( below) and Joe Hart.

Kane said: “It’s great to have people like Gareth and Harty, who have won the biggest trophies around the world, to have them in the squad, on the pitch, around the training room, talking to the boys.

“We’ve got good leaders around the team now, a great team of leaders in the dressing room – and that’s what we need to push all the way.

“We tell each other how it is when we’re doing well and when we’re not doing well. We have a manager who does the same.

“So we need to make sure we keep picking up points when we’re maybe not playing well or not playing at our highest level – because we know when we do that, we can score three, four, five goals as we have done this season.

“It’s a long way to go, but we’re feeling confident so far.”
