Southgate in warning to Sancho
JADON SANCHO has been warned that talent alone is not enough to guarantee greatness.
The message was delivered by Gareth Southgate, who is looking for Sancho to transplant his form for Borussia Dortmund into his England performances.
Sancho scored 20 goals for the Germans last season and has netted twice in eight games this campaign.
But the 20-year-old winger has not managed an England goal in his last seven internationals.
Three Lions manager Southgate said: “Jadon is on a good trajectory.
“There is competition for places in those areas and there’s always a responsibility on us to get the best out of players.
“But also there’s a responsibility on them. He wants to be a top player. He can be a top player.
“He’s on a good pathway to do that, but there’s a lot of examples of players that didn’t quite do that as well.
“So there’s a challenge every day to keep improving and get better.”
