No.1 game out of 68...

-

AT the last count, there were a mind-boggling 68 GAMES being shown live on TV today!

It’s the football-viewing equivalent of panic-buying before lockdown.

The mind-numbing ennui of the international break will only be punctuated occasionally by the odd, truly watchable game.

But, despite the huge plethora of matches available, in reality, there is only one game that everyone – yes, everyone – wants to see today.

Citeh v the Scousers.

Do we dare to dream of a torrent of goals – to the embarrassment of

Alisson and Ederson? Or will it turn into a cagey game of chess?

Earlier in the afternoon, goals ought to be guaranteed as the Foxes take on Nuno’s pack of Wolves.

And then tomorrow night the minnows of Oxford City – once famously managed by the legendary Bobby Moore and Harry Redknapp – take on the Hatters at the appropriately named Marsh Lane, especially at this time of year. The

Hoops will enjoy the financial cushion that the TV money will bring and I, for one, will be rooting for them on my final night of living in the City of Dreaming Spires.

Then it’s the international footie – a real curate’s egg of televiewing.

The friendlies will teach us nothing of the respective sides and we must hope Saturday’s Nations League game – Portugal v France – will enliven a turgid fortnight.
