Town hit new Eit’s

- By ADAM LANIGAN at John Smith’s Stadium

IT NEEDED a touch of Dutch magic to prevent Luton Town from completing the Grand Slam of Yorkshire.

Ahead courtesy of George Moncur, the Hatters were on course to make it four wins out of four having already won on trips to Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham this season.

But midfielder Carel Eiting (above), on a season-long loan from Ajax, grabbed his first goal in England to ensure a share of the points for Huddersfield.

Luton boss Nathan Jones said: “We ran out of steam second half, and looked a little bit tired.

“They had an extra day to prepare and that took its toll.

“I was proud of the work rate and the desire to get a result.”

The visitors had gone in front as captain Sonny Bradley headed Kiernan Dewsbury

Hall’s ball back across the box where it was met by

Moncur’s sweetly-timed volley.

Lewis O’Brien then had the chance to level but he shot over inside the area and Josh Koroma shot straight at goalkeeper Simon Sluga.

But the home side deservedly drew level on the hour mark when Eiting headed Harry Toffolo’s fine cross beyond Sluga.

Huddersfield looked more likely to grab a winner but Koroma curled one just wide and Fraizer Campbell couldn’t find the target in injury time.

“A draw was the minimum we deserved. We got better as the game went on,” said Terriers manager

Carlos Corberan.
