Ipswich Portsmouth

-

PAUL LAMBERT rued refereeing decisions after Ipswich suffered an extra-time exit.

Sean Raggett scored the winner after goals from Ronan Curtis and Tom Naylor were cancelled out by Jon Nolan and James Norwood respectively.

Lambert felt Raggett’s goal should have been disallowed and that his team should have had a penalty. He said: “I’m smiling because I can’t actually believe it. It’s incredible, it really is.”

Rochdale Stockport

STOCKPORT boss Jim Gannon was left drooling over John Rooney’s goal.

Rooney’s amazing seventh-minute shot from the halfway line set the National League outfit on their way against League One Dale.

Alex Reid added a second on 14 minutes and though Matt Lund pulled one back soon after, County defended resolutely to see the tie out.

Gannon said: “If John’s goal is on Match of the Day it will be one that they show over and over again.”

Dale manager Brian Barry-Murphy said: “It was very disappointing for us.”
