Salford 2 (AET) Hartlepool 0 Bolton Crewe 3
Oxford Utd 1 Peterborough
DARREN FERGUSON was impressed by Peterborough’s mentality.
Goals from Sirike Dembela and Jack Taylor were enough, with Josh Ruffels netting in reply.
Ferguson said: “Mentalitywise we’re in a good place at the moment.
“We wanted to keep our momentum going and want to go as far as we can in the competition, so there were many motivating factors for us, as I said to the players.”
Oxford boss Karl Robinson said: “We have been done by an offside goal and a deflection.”
RICHIE WELLENS hailed Salford’s attitude against non-league Hartlepool.
Bruno Andrade and Emmanuel Dieseruvwe scored in extra-time to help Salford advance.
Wellens said: “The biggest thing that I am pleased with is that we showed a winning attitude, especially in the last five putting bodies on the line.”
Hartlepool boss Dave Challinor said: “I’m really happy and proud of our performance.”
DAVE ARTELL praised midfielder Oliver Finney for being in the right place at the right time for Crewe.
Finney scored either side of Mikael Mandron and Charlie Kirk (below) goals, with Bolton’s Nathan Delfouneso netting twice.
“He has a natural ability to arrive at the right time,” said Artell. “The fact he can get in those positions is a great skill to have.” Bolton boss Ian Evatt said: “We haven’t had our best team out all at once; we’re getting close to it.”
