MATT TAYLOR was a relieved man after his Exeter side hit back to edge through to the next round.

Jordan Hulme gave Fylde an early lead, but Matt Jay and Alex Hartridge struck to seal Exeter’s progress.

Taylor said: “We have won the game and that’s the main thing. That was our main objective before the game.

“I think a lot of people were disrespectful to Fylde, but they are a really good team for their level.”

Away boss Jim Bentley said: “We played really well and I am disappointed with the goals we conceded.”

ALFIE MAY scored twice as Cheltenham overcame a spirited South Shields outfit.

Darius Osei pulled the visitors level, while Liam Sercombe netted Cheltenham’s third.

“In the second half we started well, scored twice and then stepped on, suffocated them and didn’t look in danger,” said home boss Michael Duff.

South Shields joint manager Graham Fenton said: “We are proud of the lads.”
