Charlton 0 Plymouth Hull City Fleetwood Town

LUKE JEPHCOTT’S (below) strike on the hour proved the difference between the two League One outfits.

The defeat for Charlton prompted boss Lee Bowyer to bemoan the “ridiculous” schedule for lower-league clubs. “I’ve said that I never prioritise the cups,” said Bowyer. “No disrespect, but I don’t think we will win it, and we’re playing in a ridiculous fixture schedule.

“Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, every week. They’re humans, not machines. I’m a little disappointed. “OOn Tuesday we’re in the Papa P if that’s John’s not Trophy. enough And some of them have to go and play for their countries. It’s crazy. I don’t d get it.”

JOEY BARTON revealed Ched Evans and Harvey Saunders are “up and about” after going off on stretchers for Fleetwood.

Both players suffered nasty-looking neck injuries as Hull won through goals from Josh Magennis and Reece Burke.

Barton said: “Thankfully Harvey’s up and about and walking around – although he doesn’t know what’s happened.

“I haven’t seen Ched yet but he’s talking and stuff like that. They’re getting their necks X-rayed but the early signs are good.”

On the game itself, Barton added: “It was a weird game but there are still positives.”

Hull boss Grant McCann (right) said: “We were in control and they didn’t have any answers. I don’t think Long had a save to make. I’d like round two to be a wee bit kinder in terms of the draw. We’re hoping for another home round.”
