Hey Big blender

Dame Shirley confesses to mixing caviar and ice-cream on weekends

- EXCLUSIVE BY HALINA WATTS Showbiz Editor halina.watts@mirror.co.uk

HEY... Dame Shirley Bassey really is a Big Spender – especially when using her blender.

The legendary singer spoils herself with weekend treats of ice cream mixed with caviar.

She indulges herself after spending much of the week working out. The 83-year-old – who has just released her final album I Owe It All To You, on Decca – said: “I try to eat healthy. I am a gym fanatic. A trainer comes to my apartment in Monaco three times a week. I try to go to the gym three times but make it twice if I am lucky. I feel it when I don’t go.

“I don’t have diet secrets. I just watch what I eat. At weekends I go mad... ice cream, caviar with lots of cream. I have a lot of facials and a lot of body massages. And it’s working. It is worth all the money.”

Shirley spent the spring lockdown in Monaco and would walk round her pool 12 times a day.

She then practised “holding the last line of Goldfinger for 20 seconds” while washing the pots.

And she has had time to ponder her incredible life including performing in front of JFK, a trio of Bond themes – Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever and Moonraker – and playing Glastonbury in £3,000 wellies, with her initials spelt out in diamante crystals.

Now she plans a tell-all autobiography, but has ruled out a film biopic adding: “I will never do it. Never. It does not appeal at all. I look forward not back. Anyway, who’d play me?”

Might we see her on stage again soon? She teases: “I don’t know when I will be singing again. I have not retired completely, no.”
