Birds Lesley and Linda in plane jump for spin-off show
Birds of a Feather favourites
and will be flying high – in an adrenaline-fuelled spin-off show.
The sitcom stars are to be filmed jumping from a plane as they travel the world ticking off their bucket list.
Producers reckon it’ll be a feelgood hit.
It comes after Linda, 62, and Lesley, 75, reunite for a festive Birds of Feather later this month – but Pauline Quirke, 61, won’t be joining them as she has given up acting.
A source says: “Fans were so excited to hear Linda and Lesley were getting back together for the Birds of a Feather
Christmas reunion, and they will be delighted to hear they are working on this fun project.”
TV insiders say the pair are set to take on some hairraising challenges.
Plus, they will meet their celebrity heroes, and live out their lifelong dreams of performing on a Broadway stage.
Meantime, Linda says: “Birds of a Feather is coming back for a Christmas special. We’re delighted.
“They repeated the last few series during lockdown and it did really well in the ratings, and ITV asked us if we would come back.”
Linda – who plays Tracey Stubbs in the series – confirms that Pauline’s character Sharon Theodopolopodous will be stuck on a cruise ship in Costa Rica – because of the Covid- 19 pandemic – in the festive episode’s storyline to explain her absence.
Les Dennis and Ami Metcalf will also star in the show, which will see Tracey and Lesley’s character Dorien in lockdown amid the pandemic.
“Dorien now owns the house, so there is a lot of trouble there because she thinks I’m her skivvy,” explains Linda.
“Tracey has got OCD, a bit like Linda – we’re the same person. Dorien has to stay over one side [of the house] and Tracey has to stay over the other.”
Telly sources say channels are fighting over the show, with ITV favourite.
Birds of a Feather aired 128 episodes over the course of 12 seasons, which were released from 1989 to 1998, with the show getting a revival in 2014.
