Toff caps it off early

- By LIZ BYRNES at John Smith’s Stadium

HUDDERSFIELD cruised to victory with a fine team performance and starring role from Josh Koroma.

The Terriers scored with their first attack as Koroma drove forward on the left and cut inside before curling an unstoppable shot across Seny Dieng.

The rookie forward then turned provider to play in the oncoming Harry Toffolo (above) to round off another sweeping Town move before the break.

Huddersfield cut through the Hoops at will with Koroma, Isaac Mbenza and Lewis O’Brien shining.

Manager Carlos Corberan said: “It was a quality performance with a lot of good individual performances.

“It was important for me for the team to react after losing to Cardiff.” The only downside to victory was an injury to Chris Schindler, who twisted his knee and will go for a scan.

Toffolo almost doubled Town’s lead moments after Koroma’s early opener but Dieng got down smartly to the left-back’s low shot. But Toffolo was soon on the scoresheet - and the dominance continued after the break.

Pipa’s shot was beaten out by Dieng before the Spaniard drove down the right and found the unmarked O’Brien who managed to shoot despite the ball bobbling up forcing Dieng to push it away.

QPR dropped to 18th after a third successive defeat and boss Mark Warburton said: “We looked lacklustre. We looked heavy-legged.

“We looked second best. We were below par, we lost duels, we were second-best – not one or two but to a man almost.”
