Gers give a Gee-up to Stevie

- Rangers Ross County

RANGERS celebrated Steven Gerrard’s 150th game in charge with a demolition of Ross County.

Gerrard now has 98 wins under his belt as boss and with a 23-point lead over Celtic, only nine more are required to be crowned champions.

And the runaway leaders could even afford to see skipper James Tavernier miss his second penalty in succession and still grab a threegoal half-time lead at Ibrox.

Ryan Kent, Filip Helander and

Joe Aribo all struck before Gers continued their march towards the title after the break as Ryan Jack and Connor Goldson completed their unbeaten 12th straight home league win of the season.

Gerrard said: “I’m loving it. I’m absolutely honoured and privileged to be in this position in the first place.

“I really understand what the club stands for, I looked in from afar for many years and had nothing but respect for this club.

“To be 150 games in, I’m delighted but it’s not about me. It’s about this team and getting this group successful as soon as possible, that’s the challenge.

“That’s what I’ll be judged on. It’s one step at a time but we’re in a fantastic place.

“It’s been a hell of a journey, intense and challenging but I’ve loved the ride so far.”

Rangers could have been out of sight within 15 minutes but for

Ross Laidlaw’s save from Tavernier’s penalty and a woodwork-rattling effort from Kent.

But the goals soon flowed and Gerrard said: “It was really strong, another home win and a clean sheet, five different scorers, a couple of set-plays – we’re going to go away very happy.

“We played with real urgency in and out of possession.”
