Why I’m bikini ready... at last

-

We‘ll soon be bombarded with instructions to get our bodies “bikini ready”.

My body is far from the magazine images – I have short stumpy legs, a thick waist, small boobs, a skin disorder, cellulite and stretch marks. I spent years damaging my mental health over it, and never wore a two-piece.

But since turning 50, practising selfcare and unpicking the damaging language and images I’ve been brainwashed with since a child, I’m in a much happier, healthier place – and can wear a bikini with pride.

There are no rules to wearing a bikini. If it suits, just do it. Along with a smile.

BRITISH Gas workers yesterday spent the second day of their four-day strike helping good causes.

Thousands of GMB members have walked out in a row over conditions and pay. But in Liverpool, they used the time to volunteer at Kensington Fields Community Centre.

A BURGLAR made himself feel so at home at a flat he broke into, he told the owner it wasn’t her place.

Antoni Adams, 33, spent hours at the property and helped himself to snacks, coffee and Foster’s lager.

When the shocked owner returned to find him peering out of the window, he told her: “It’s not your house. I’ve been here all day.”

Police later found his DNA on a lager can at the Sunderland flat.

Adams, also of Sunderland, was jailed for 876 days after admitting the burglary in July. Newcastle Crown Court heard he has 93 previous convictions, including two for burglary.
