This is a good time to think about buying… football boots

Have you got a wannabe Ronaldo in the house?

If you know someone who gets through football boots faster than you can afford to replace them, you may be interested to know that February is the best time of the year to replace them.

Whether the boots are past their best, see heavy use or have simply been outgrown, it would be worth your while to stock up on a few pairs now – maybe in increasing sizes – to help save you money down the line.

Investing in some new football boots now will save you as much as 43% compared to buying in the most expensive month of

November.

This week, we reckon UK consumers will be buying… baby items

We’re now 11 months on from the announcement of the first UK lockdown, which means that the children being born now are lockdown babies.

Many people have predicted that a baby boom will happen over the next few months due to more people conceiving while staying at home.

This means that more and more parents-to-be are going to be on the lookout for good deals on baby essentials and snapping up expensive items such as prams, cots, baby monitors and car seats.

SNOOKER

RONNIE O’SULLIVAN has revealed that he’s playing in more tournaments this season to alleviate the lockdown boredom.

The Rocket has cherry-picked his events in recent years, in a conscious bid to avoid burnout.

But the coronavirus pandemic has left the six-time world champion (above) with little option but to try and fill up his schedule again – just to get out of the house.

“There’s nothing else to do,” said the Chigwell potter. “I’ve actually been putting in a bit of practice too. It’s a reason to get out. I’m still doing a lot of running too, around 50 miles a week. It keeps me fresh.” ■■JORDAN BROWN beat Stephen Maguire 6-1 at the Celtic Manor to reach today’s Welsh Open final – the first ranking final of the Northern Irishman’s 12-year professional career.

RORY McILROY hopes to bounce back at this week’s World Golf Championship event in Florida after a first missed cut in 26 US Tour starts.

The Ulsterman, 31, slumped to a second-round five-over-par 76 and finished seven-over at the halfway stage of the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles – 19 shots behind halfway pacesetter Sam Burns.

McIlroy, down to world No.7, had played 25 consecutive weekends – the longest active streak on the Tour.

ENGLAND expect Kyle Sinckler to be targeted for Wales wind-ups again in Cardiff.

The England prop (right) was substituted on their last Six Nations visit after blowing a fuse and conceding two penalties inside a minute as Wales went on to win 21-13.

And coach Eddie Jones, an Umbro ambassador, is anticipating a repeat dose on Saturday. He said: “Wales got at Kyle in 2019 — but he has matured a lot. I am sure there will be another test for him. We were over-aroused in 2019, lost our mettle a bit and did not cope with that well.”
