Poor four Mowbray

- By JOHN WRAGG at the City Ground

SAM GALLAGHER was rushed to hospital with a suspected punctured lung as the pressure built on Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray.

Gallagher fell badly in a collision and at half-time was coughing up blood.

Rovers then blew the chance of ending their losing streak when top scorer Adam Armstrong missed a penalty, leaving Mowbray with four successive defeats.

Blackburn fans are growing restless, putting Mowbray under pressure, but he said: “I’m more concerned about Gallagher who is in hospital having an X-ray on a potential punctured lung.

“I think it was the way he fell flat to the ground. It wasn’t nice at half-time.

“The game? It was a harsh result on us. We were hit by injuries. Now we are four centre-halves down with two teenagers playing and a lot of midfielders down.

“We just have to keep going.

“I enjoyed watching my team today.”

Forest took the lead in the 26th minute when Alex Mighten’s fierce shot deflected past Thomas Kaminski.

And Forest could have had more before half-time as Ryan Nyambe headed an Anthony Knockaert shot off the line, James Garner headed against the bar, and Glenn Murray shot wide. In the second half, a Cyrus Christie drive was touched onto the post by Kaminski.

A minute later Knockaert’s headed backpass put keeper Brice Samba in trouble and he fouled Nyambe for the penalty – but Armstrong, who hit the post in the first half, couldn’t save Rovers as Samba dived to his right to make a great save.

Wigan Lincoln

1 2 MICHAEL APPLETON lauded his Lincoln side for the way they coped with difficult conditions and going a goal down to secure a victory which keeps them top of League One.

Callum Lang put struggling Wigan ahead but Anthony Scully soon levelled before Tom Hopper struck a secondhalf winner.

Appleton said: “The pitch was a poor one, and I thought we dealt with that and the swirling wind really well.

“To come back from going a goal behind to an incredible strike from Callum Lang in the way we did, was very positive. We rode our luck a little bit at the end, and the reality is sometimes you have to.”

Wigan interim manager Leam Richardson said:

“The result’s obviously disappointing. I felt we really imposed ourselves on the game.”
