LEE JOHNSON was relieved to come away with a comfortable victory.
Goals from Grant Leadbitter
(right), Lynden
Gooch and
Charlie Wyke secured the win, while
Burton’s task was made tougher by the dismissal of leftback Josh Earl.
Johnson said: “To be honest I was worried about this one. I’m very happy with the whole
squad today because it was a really professional performance and even in the second half we had to weather a bit of a storm. Today we gained control but then the sending off became pivotal and then it was pretty much game over once we got the third.” Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: “I am disappointed because I expect a lot more but it is not a shame to lose 3-0 to them.”
DARRELL CLARKE was satisfied with a point from his first game in charge of Port Vale.
Clarke, who was brought in from fellow League Two club Walsall this week, saw David Worrall put his new side in front before Orient levelled through Dan Kemp. “Can we play a lot better? I think we can,” Clarke said. “We showed that little bit of quality, but obviously we want to see a lot more of that.”
Orient coach Ross Embleton said: “We created some good opportunities.”
