Gulls off course again

-

TORQUAY slipped to a 3-2 home defeat to FC HALIFAX last night.

The table-topping Gulls have now won just once from their last seven games following Jeff King’s late winner.

SUTTON are hot on their heels after thumping 10-man WEALDSTONE 4-1 and are now four points behind with three games in hand.

HARTLEPOOL kept the pressure up thanks to Gavan Holohan’s last-gasp winner against YEOVIL.

NOTTS COUNTY lost 1-0 to visiting CHESTERFIELD while fellow promotionchasers STOCKPORT were sunk by a penalty from Joe Tomlinson against EASTLEIGH.

MARCUS RASHFORD needed that goal against Real Sociedad on Thursday.

His form since the start of the year has been patchy, to say the least.

Rashford has one goal in his last nine Premier League appearances and that was in the 9-0 walkover against Southampton.

Rashford’s performance in last Sunday’s draw at West Brom was average, at best. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has to take some responsibility as he seems unable to settle on a best attacking combination.

But Rashford, 23, really needs to up his game — his dip might have mainly gone under the radar, but it will not have escaped the notice of England boss

Gareth Southgate.

ALEJANDRO Nicolas Bernal is, it seems, in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Covid-secure bubble.

What is the connection? He is the Arsenal striker’s tattoo artist. Obvs.

You could not write it… although Bernal (above with Aubameyang) probably could, on your neck.

But it would not be the first sport to look the other way when the morals and conduct of one of its owners is under wider scrutiny.
Just have a look around the Premier League.
