Gillian’s roving boyfriend is no longer top dog

Has Crown star’s pooch ousted her lover?

-

Is Gillian Anderson’s “Mr Potato Head” boyfriend in the dog house?

There were reports she had taken back The Crown creator

Peter Morgan after he waltzed off with Jemima Goldsmith.

But this week Gillian appeared to hit back at news of their reconciliation by posting a picture of her labradoodle Stella and captioning it: “What more does a girl need?”

One fan said: “Exactly!! Girls don’t need men.” Another added:

“Subtle hint that you didn’t take Mr Potato Head back?” Yet another insisted: “You don’t need no man, you’re an independent woman.”

A source says: “Gillian and Peter have been off and on. Right now, she knows she can always rely on her pooch.”

Gillian, nominated for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in the Netflix series The Crown, was caught up in a love triangle last month when it emerged she and Peter had split – and he had quickly “moved on” to romance his pal Jemima, 47.

The pair were said to have enjoyed an intense liaison that blossomed in the New Year, with friends saying they were in a “legit support bubble” during the third lockdown. Gillian, 52 – who Peter, 57, had dated for four years – was said to be “bemused” by the news just weeks after they had parted ways. Then two weeks ago it emerged that his new romance had come to an abrupt end after a month, with Peter going back to Gillian, leaving Jemima “shocked and confused”.

He apparently joined Gillian in Prague, where she is working on her latest film, White Bird: A Wonder Story. But now her fans are speculating about whether or not they have split for good. Her reps did not return requests for comment.

Whatever their love status, the duo can bask in The Crown’s success tonight as it is up for six awards.

Gillian isn’t the only Golden Globe nominee whose award ceremony plus-one is her pooch. This week, her co-star and fellow nominee Emma Corrin also posed with her spaniel Spencer, while another nominee, Lily Collins, posted a snap of her mutt Redford.

Normally, I’d be dancing through the corridors of the Beverly Hilton, but this year I’ll be tuning in online with my delightful puppy Peanut. What more does a girl need indeed, eh Gillian?
