England started their

World Cup qualifying matches this week, beating San Marino 5-0. What was the point of that?

I visited San Marino last year, and I’m not sure they have eleven people, so they did well to get a team out.

I wandered around the central square for an hour and didn’t see one person.

Presumably there was a match on and everyone was playing.

On Thursday night one of their players was substituted in the second half. But it wasn’t to strengthen the central defence, it was because he was called home to sign for an Amazon delivery.
