Courchevel Altiport, France

-

While the scenery might be second to none with jagged snowy peaks and deep canyons, Courchevel’s airport, created in 1961, has clearly been built with skiers in mind. At more than 6,500ft above sea level, the 1,760ft runway has the world’s steepest gradient at 18.66 %.

Skiers can watch planes as they take off, soaring just above their heads.

The airport also featured in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies as the location where the baddies hold their arms bazaar.
