HOUSE PROUD JOF OUT AGAIN

- BY RICHARD EDWARDS

JOFRA ARCHER has suffered another injury blow after it was revealed he will undergo surgery for a hand injury on Monday.

Archer flew home from England’s tour of India last week to receive a pain-killing injection in his right elbow in the hope that it would give the pace bowler a period of rest and recovery before a busy international summer.

But now he will go under the knife for a separate injury which he suffered cleaning his house back in January.

After being ruled out of England’s current ODI series in India, he will also miss the start of the

Indian Premier League (IPL) season with the Rajasthan Royals.

Archer played in all five T20 internationals as

Eoin Morgan’s side lost the series to India 3-2.

He also played in two of the four Tests in India, taking four wickets at a cost of 30 runs.

With a T20 World Cup in India later this year and an Ashes campaign also on the horizon, England will hope he gets over his injury problems quickly.

An ECB statement read: “Jofra suffered a cut to his hand while cleaning at his home in January.

“The injury was managed by the ECB’s medical team through the tour and it did not impact on his availability.”
