PAT LAM hailed Callum Sheedy’s increasing influence after the Bristol fly-half landed a difficult conversion with the last kick of the game to down Harlequins and extend the Bears’ lead at the top of the Gallagher Premiership.

Sheedy played a key role in Wales’ Six Nations success by kicking them to victory against

England last month, and he stepped up again with another nerveless conversion from out wide.

England prop Kyle Sinckler scored the all-important try as the clock went red to level the scores before Sheedy broke Quins’ hearts.

The Bears appeared set for only their second home loss of the campaign as Danny Care and Joe Marchant tries — plus a penalty try — put Quins ahead. But the hosts scored a late penalty try of their own, plus four others from Dave Attwood, Fitz Harding, Piers O’Conor and Sinckler.

Director of Rugby Lam said: “Callum’s had some pressure kicks against England and now he’s stepping up for us.

“Win or lose, we do the same system. This is why we’re at the top.”
