Mowbray adamant on Adam

- BY NEIL GOULDING

BLACKBURN manager Tony Mowbray is convinced star striker Adam Armstrong is destined for the top.

Armstrong has bagged an impressive 20 goals this season to put top-flight clubs on alert.

Mowbray has no doubt he’s Premier League material but hopes he’ll stay at Ewood Park for a little while longer.

“My preference is for Adam to stay with us and get out of this league,” he said. “If he goes to the Premier League then he’s going to have to sit on the bench an awful lot.

“At 23 he should be playing more football, scoring more goals and building his reputation.

“A move to the Premier League will happen at some stage. I’ve had one or two conversations with Premier League managers about him. They’ve not been pushy, but they have just enquired about him. “He should enjoy playing in a team every Saturday and Tuesday, banging in goals and enjoying hitting the back of the net.”
