EFL sides to cash in

HARD-UP EFL clubs are set for a timely cash boost from Premier League sides unable to travel abroad for lucrative pre-season friendlies.

Covid-19 restrictions have made travel unlikely in July, so the big boys are being forced to make other arrangements.

And with crowds set to be allowed it will be a welcome addition to funds stretched during the pandemic.

One EFL chairman said: “Not only will it obviously be a financial shot in the arm when we could all do with one, but it will be great for the fans. To have a Premier League club turn up on your doorstep before the season starts will be brilliant.”
