MATT TAYLOR reflected on an “ugly” win for his Exeter side after Matt Jay’s 34th-minute strike handed them a narrow victory.

“We won ugly, but the three points are everything,” said Taylor.

Gary Bowyer, taking charge of Salford for the first time, said: “The result is disappointing and the goal is a scruffy goal.

“The desire and the effort was there, it was just that final third we are going to have to work on.

“It has certainly given me a lot to think about.”
