Scarlett improves her vocabulary …by watching telly with subtitles

I’M A Celebrity champion Scarlett Moffatt has found a unique way to become well-read – watching TV with the subtitles on.

The 30-year-old reckons it is a much easier way to boost her vocabulary than reading books.

Scarlett revealed: “I don’t normally set New Year’s resolutions, but this year, I said, ‘I really want to read more.’ So I’ve been putting the subtitles on every show I’ve watched.”

Her police officer partner Scott

Dobinson, 36, has questioned her method for joining the ranks of the well-read, however.

Former Gogglebox star Scarlett said: “Scott’s like, ‘That’s not reading’. But I’m, like, ‘Well, I’m learning words I didn’t know before’.”

Scarlett already has a host of qualifications, including a degree in PE and sports coaching from York’s St John University. She also once listed her educational achievements to a follower who called her “brain dead”.

Scarlett hit back: “I have 13 A*-C GCSEs, 3 A levels and a 2:1 bachelors degree, mate. But if you work hard & be kind you can achieve anything.”

Scarlett told the All Round Mine podcast that she now hopes to start reading more than ever before – but her cunning plan still doesn’t involve picking up an actual book.

Instead, she wants to try reading the telly subtitles with the audio descriptions switched on.

Interviewer Arielle Free suggested the plan would be fun for saucy shows like Naked Attraction.

Excited Scarlett replied: “There’s my Friday night sorted.”

She is currently filming ITV2’s new game show Apocalypse Wow alongside Love Island’s Chris Hughes, 28.
