Docs operate as fire rages
MEDICS coolly finished an open heart operation as firefighters fought a blaze at their hospital.
More than 120 people were evacuated from the 1907 building after its wooden roof caught fire in Blagoveshchensk, Russia.
But the surgery team carried on as fans were used to keep smoke at bay.
The patient was safely evacuated and hero staff are now in line for awards.
Lead surgeon Valentin Filatov said: “We had to save this person.”
