Town seeks a memorial for sweet tycoon

-

SUPPORT is growing for Fisherman’s Friend tycoon Doreen Lofthouse to be honoured with a memorial in her home town.

Doreen, who died aged 91 last week, turned the sweets into a global brand sold in 100 countries.

She and late husband Tony ploughed millions into the seaside resort of Fleetwood, Lancs, through their charity foundation.

Margaret Daniels, of Fleetwood Civic Society, said: “You just need to look at the responses on Facebook to see people would like to see something to recognise what she did.”

Wyre Council said she cared about the town by funding its community groups and building works.
