Turing’s genius noted at last
■■THE design of the Bank of England’s new £50 note, featuring the computer pioneer and wartime codebreaker Alan Turing, enters circulation on June 23.
That would have been the mathematician’s 109th birthday – and this will be the last of our notes to switch from paper to polymer. ■■Individuals who are part of a working household that receives tax credits may be eligible for a new one-off payment of £500.
The payment is being introduced to provide extra support when the temporary increase in Working Tax Credit ends tomorrow.
Individuals will be contacted by text message or letter this month to confirm they are eligible.
