ALEX SANDERSON believes his Sale Sharks are thriving on the physical and mental pain of chasing glory at home and in Europe.

The Sharks visit Scarlets in a revamped Champions Cup last-16 clash today and are poised in third place in the Premiership.

Boss Sanderson said: “There are parts of this team that speak my language. It’s one of intensity, physicality and work rate, dominating the opposition and finding fun and enjoyment in that ‘sado-masochism’ factor.

“It’s about wanting the pain and giving the pain!

“These boys relish that and belief’s growing here.”
