Toon ace Gayle in demand

- BY CLIVE HETHERINGTON

LEADING sides in Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are still plotting to lure Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle.

Toon have offered the striker (below), whose contract expires this summer, a new three-year deal.

Newcastle hope to confirm agreement with Gayle, 31, which would at least secure a fee if he moved in the close season.

But their interest in holding on to Arsenal’s Joe Willock next term looks to hinge on Premier League survival.

Under-fire Magpies boss Steve Bruce is keen to see the midfielder return for a second loan spell after he joined during the winter window.

But the Gunners are understood to be willing to offload Willock, 21, permanently at the right price.

And if Willock were to go on loan again, it is likely that Arsenal would prefer his development to continue in the top flight.
