SANCHO THIGH & DRY

-

EXCLUSIVE BY SIMON MULLOCK JADON SANCHO has lost his fight to be fit to face former club Manchester City in the Champions League this week.

Borussia Dortmund’s England winger was still in Dubai receiving treatment on the thigh injury that has sidelined him for more than a month when his team-mates lost 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in a vital Bundesliga clash yesterday.

And the German club have now ruled the 21-year-old (left) out of the quarter-final first-leg trip to the Etihad on Tuesday night in the hope that he can recover for the return game.

Sancho has not played since damaging his thigh muscle after scoring the winning goal against Borussia Monchengladbach on March 2 and missed England’s

World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.

But the hope in Germany was that specialist treatment in the UAE would speed his recovery.

The south Londoner joined City’s youth set-up from Watford in 2015 and was expected to make a big impact.

However, he moved to Dortmund for £8million almost four years ago after rejecting City’s £30,000-a-week offer.
