‘We will NOT hit snooze’

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

SCOTT PARKER will not let his Fulham stars sleepwalk their way to relegation like the West Ham side he played in.

The Fulham boss (below) won the FWA Footballer of the Year award in 2010-11, despite the Hammers going down.

Parker said: “We were sleepwalking into the last five or six games at West Ham, feeling a bit downbeat.

“But that is not this team, one million per cent this is not the feeling I get – this team are bang in it.

It’s a team that feels it’s in their hands on a game day, that they are excited to play and look forward to challenging themselves.

“That West Ham team I was in, there was an unconfident and unhealthy feeling at times, because that’s what defeats do.

“The pressure with relegation battles builds... then all of a sudden it’s extra weight.

“Work, effort, fight, gets you so far, but it’s a balance – you can’t just walk away from your beliefs or how your team has got results.”
