Hit & miss Jo’s in Luc

READING boss Veljko Paunovic has vowed to keep faith with Lucas Joao despite a horror miss against Barnsley.
Joao’s howler came in the 74th minute of Friday’s 1-1 draw at Oakwell when Royals team-mate Yakou Meite outmuscled Tykes keeper Brad Collins.
The ball fell to striker Joao (below), who inexplicably rifled the ball wide of an empty net from 12 yards to ensure the play-off rivals shared the points.
Paunovic admitted: “It’s not the first time Lucas has missed a good chance.
“But you have to support him because the team needs him and there is no time for lamentations.
“I have a good rapport with him and it’s important to see how he is feeling so that this kind of thing doesn’t happen in the future.”
The sixth-placed Royals host Wayne Rooney’s Derby tomorrow as they bid to bolster their play-off hopes.
And Rams striker Martyn Waghorn is praying his season is not finished after winning over manager Rooney.
The forward was recalled after being axed a fortnight ago for his attitude in training, but hurt a hamstring on Friday.
Rooney said: “Waggy has been outstanding since the Stoke game.
“It was good for him to have a couple of days off and reflect on what’s happened.”
