Cops sacked after joyride

TWO police officers who drove a seized car at 89mph have been sacked.

PC Shaun Pearce and PC Daniel Pike were targeting danger drivers when they impounded the highperformance car, then shared footage on WhatsApp of PC Pearce driving.

The hearing heard that while waiting for a recovery vehicle to arrive, they drove for over three miles before returning the seized car to the same position.

A disciplinary hearing ruled the Devon and Cornwall officers were guilty of gross misconduct.

Det Supt Paul Kessell said: “They have undermined the public’s trust and confidence in the police force.”
