Disabled car tax discount delay chaos
THOUSANDS of disabled drivers are off the road due to delays in car tax applications, say campaigners.
Those on some benefits usually get 50% off their tax but must send documents to the DVLA to prove their eligibility.
Some fear last week’s strike at DVLA’s Swansea HQ over working conditions may lengthen delays.
Disabled Motoring UK, representing blue badge holders, wants more services online.
Disabled Jacqueline Nelson, of Sittingbourne, Kent, fears she won’t be able to return to her job by May. She said: “It’s taking twice as long to deal with applications, it’s not fair.”
