Billie rules out future time travelling in the Tardis
BILLIE Piper has ruled out a return to Doctor Who because it’s “too much work” – but recommends actress Helena Bonham Carter for the next Time Lord.
Asked if she fancied a comeback as The Doctor’s companion Rose Tyler, she said: “I couldn’t – it’s so much work. It’s the face of a family show and that’s a lot of responsibility that I’m not comfortable with.”
Billie, 38, who first appeared as Rose in 2005 – accompanying both Christopher Ecclestone and David Tennant when they played The Doctor –– told Total Film magazine that
Helena, 54, would be ideal to take over from Jodie Whittaker.
She said: “She’s got that madcap energy – she’s a ruddy powerhouse.”
Speaking previously about the
gruelling schedule on Doctor Who, Billie said: “You were in Wales for nine months solid. And as a job it dominates your life.
“It’s mainstream family viewing so you can’t really escape it.”
Helena is 66/1 to be the next Doctor, with Michaela Coel in top spot at 4/1 and Kelly MacDonald at 6/1. Outsiders include Allen Carr at 100/1 and Katie Price at 200/1.
