It’d be hard for Messi and Co

- EXCLUSIVE BY STEVE BaTES

LIONEL MESSI and Cristiano Ronaldo would wow the MLS but it would not be a stroll – even for them.

Minnesota United boss Adrian Heath insists America’s top flight is no longer a retirement home for

Europe’s finest looking for a final pay day.

The ex-Everton star said: “The big question out here is will Messi [left] and Ronaldo come – and when? I’m not saying they couldn’t succeed. They are two of the greatest players in history but I don’t think it would be right for them aged, say, 37 or 38.

“Italy legend Andrea Pirlo found that out. With the hot weather and the MLS generally getting younger, gone are the days when those kind of players can come and jog around.

“It’s not a stroll, it’s a league of ambitious players and fitness levels are good. There’s even talk of MLS clubs being in the Copa Libatadores, alongside the best clubs of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia.”
