Darnell is a big believer

- BY NEIL MOXLEY

DARNELL FURLONG says belief has never wavered in West Brom’s dressing room that the club can retain its Premier League status.

The right-back insists that despite it looking like the club’s desperate fight to remain among the elite would end in failure, that survival is still on the cards.

The Baggies’ jaw-dropping 5-2 victory over Champions League quarter-finalists Chelsea last week has re-ignited the belief outside of the club that the drop may be avoided. However, inside it Furlong (above) says the spirit has remained strong.

He said: “Everything clicked last week at Chelsea. It’s got to be one of the best results of my career. There were some last season that meant a massive amount to us as we were on our way to promotion.

“And it’s added to our belief. We’ve never stopped believing. We’re a long way off it being done and dusted.

“We’ve seen it all before in the Premier League.

“It can be a single chance or a goal that turns the season on its head. We’re still in the fight, that’s the main thing.”
