Rangers romp it
JAMIE SMITH watched his Sheffield Wednesday side thumped by a Lyndon Dykes-inspired QPR – then admitted he cannot wait for Darren Moore’s return to training tomorrow.
Owls boss Moore has been forced to watch the last three matches at home on TV after testing positive for Covid.
His living room table was probably in a state by full-time yesterday after QPR ran riot with three second-half goals.
And the Championship table is not looking too clever either with Wednesday seven points from safety.
But assistant Smith said: “We can definitely get out of trouble.
“It would have been better if the gaffer was here, we’ve just had to get around that. I can’t wait for Darren to get back – just to have his presence around the training ground.”
Dykes’ lovely 27th-minute glancing header from Yoann Barbet’s cross opened the scoring.
Wednesday levelled three minutes later as Josh Windass delightfully finished from Adam
Reach’s pass.
But an ugly 50th-minute goal changed things in the Hoops’ favour.
Stefan Johansen’s shot took a deflection off Osaze Urhoghide with keeper Joe Wildsmith making a mess of the save.
Ten minutes later it was game-over as Chris Willock headed on Rob Dickie’s cross for Dykes to nod in.
Willock wrapped up the scoring in the last minute.
QPR manager Mark Warburton said: “Lyndon deserves so much credit.”
