5 things you should know about getting your pension
1
You must claim your New State Pension – it won’t automatically be paid to you.
2
The full new state pension is £9,339.20 per year.
3
You need at least 10 qualifying years (where you’ve paid enough in) to receive anything, and 35 years to obtain the full amount.
4
You cannot claim your state pension early. To find out your state pension age, go to the Government calculator at gov.uk/statepension-age
5
If you have gaps in your national insurance contribution history, consider voluntarily paying extra to cover them the shortfall.
