Becks in hot water

DAVID BECKHAM’S Inter Miami face sanctions from the MLS over the signing of France World Cup-winning midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

Matuidi joined on a free transfer after leaving Juventus in August – but the deal has now been found to have broken MLS roster and budget rules.

The MLS says that Matuidi was paid more than allowed as one of four “designated players” on the Miami payroll.

The rules allow only three such players, as their salaries do not count towards the MLS salary cap.

“Inter Miami violated the designated player limit as the team had three designated players in addition to Matuidi during 2020,” the MLS said in a statement.
